Let's Stay in Touch On:
I have TWO new patterns to share with you!
The first one is called Heartbreaker. To learn more about this pattern, click HERE.
The second one is a halloween mini-notebook cover set featuring Frankie and Witchy Poo. To learn more about this new set click HERE.
I had the pleasure of teaching my new pattern, Heartbreaker to a group of ladies (some from the group Hoopla Sisters) at The Best Little Retreat Center in Richardson a few weeks ago. What a fabulous place to host a workshop!
The center was immaculate. It was so thoughtfully laid out and organized. Each attendee had lots of room to "spread out" and sew comfortably.
Pam, Chuck and their staff were very helpful and welcoming from the moment we walked in early that morning, until we left late that afternoon. You should definitely check out this unique facility for your next sewing get together.
Thank you to all the sweet ladies that attended. I had so much fun visiting and getting to know all of you.
I can't believe it has already been a week since the Sewcial Escape. Honestly, its taken me all week to get caught up after the fun filled weekend! If you've never attended a retreat, imagine a slumber party that lasts for 4 days. Imagine your friends are there too and you all get to hang out in your comfy clothes with no housework, no kids, no one wanting your time or attention -- only doing the things that YOU WANT TO DO, which is sew of course! Sounds heavenly, right? Well, IT IS! It REALLY IS!
Our weekend started off Thursday afternoon with a fun towel swap. Each attendee brought their own towel, that they created, in a concealed bag. We drew names and swapped towels playing the Chinese gift exchange. We had a very talented group of ladies and there was lots of "fighting" over who was going home with their favorite towel. It was all in fun and everyone had a good laughing and playing the game.
After all the laughter with the towels, we were ready to sew of course! We made a quick in the hoop project called Klassy Key Fob (soon to be released).
On Friday, Lisa Shaw (aka the embroidery guru) from Bubbles Menagerie taught a software class using Embrillance Software. Lisa is an amazing teacher (who is full of energy) with a wealth of knowledge on machine embroidery. Even if you don't use the Embrillance Software, you always walk away with tips and tricks from attending her class that you can apply to the software you use.
Of course all of this learning made us hungry! A HUGE thank you to Marylin Dow for keeping us all fed with her delicious home cooked lunches/snacks. You're the best Marylin!!!
Friday afternoon we had a class on an in the hoop Santa taught by Shary Connell from Stitched Impressions.
It was hard to think about Christmas time with the extreme Texas heat but at least everyone has one new decoration to adorn their home when it does cool down. Thanks for coming all the way from Alabama to teach Shary!
After dinner, we played Left Right Center game with fat quarters. Nancy Coley and Cindy Stein cleaned up! They look way too happy with their new acquired stash don't they? :>)
Saturday morning we had such a treat! Deborah Jones from My Embroidery Mentor taught a class on embroidering on these adorable buddies. Each lady walked away with a completed buddy of their own. It was a pleasure to watch Deborah in action. She is an amazing teacher and such a sweet person!
Saturday afternoon was my turn. I taught my new pattern, The Double Duty Tote Bag. All smiles as the ladies showed off their completed bags.
After dinner we wanted to play more games. Marylin led us in a game of "what's in your purse". Linda Murphy amazed us with all that she carries in her purse. You go girl!
We still wanted to play more games but didn't have any more fat quarters and Nancy and Cindy weren't sharing so we played with the next best thing we all had 3 of.......quarters.
Can you tell by the smile on her face who won.........AGAIN!!!!!!!
It was sad to part ways and say goodbye on Sunday morning. As you can tell from these pictures we had a blast! Thank you to Lisa, Deborah and Shary for taking the time out of their busy schedules to teach. Thank you to all the ladies for attending. A special thank you to Buddy, Vanessa Behymer's hubby, who brought her all the way from Wisconsin to attend this year's retreat. I love that at this type of event I get to spend quality time with each of you and get to know you on a more personal level. You ladies are all so precious. Thanks to each of you for being a part of The 2017 Sewcial Escape and making it so memorable.
I will begin working on the schedule and venue for The 2018 Sewcial Escape to make next year's event even bigger and better. To keep up with all the details, click HERE to go to Facebook "like" my Page.
A huge thank you to Marylin Dow for all that she does for me! I love you dearly and don't know what I would do without you!
The Double Duty Screen Tote
This bag is multifunctional. It can be used with the drawstring insert for added security (so others can't see what's in your bag) or you can use the screen bag by itself and it is just as cute! Also, the drawstring insert can be used by itself or with the bag. So many options with this cutie!! That's why I'm calling it The Double Duty Screen Tote Bag. Click on the picture below to learn more.

The towel exchange was "sew" much fun! We had a very talented group of ladies.

SewMichelle Retreats 2016
It's time to start planning the retreats you want to attend this year. I hope you put SewMichelle at the top of your list. I had so much fun with the group of ladies that attended my first one this past October at "The Our House in Milford" retreat center. I haven't laughed that much in years! It was really good for the soul to get away and be with a group of women who all share the same passion for sewing. Believe it or not, we did get a bunch accomplished too. Look at the all adorable projects we made:
