Maxi Bag by Ellie Mae Designs
Posted by sewmichelle on
Coming from the 80's generation, I'm calling this bag, Purple Rain.
It is made from a gorgeous purple, teal and green cotton fabric that I bought at Joann's a few years ago and I wish now I had bought about 10 yards of it. The polka dot fabric adds just the right touch to make the teal/aqua color pop.
I used the 1" scalloped ruler maker from QuickPointsRuler.com (such a neat tool) and then of course I had to add rick rack somewhere, so I nestled it between the scallops and the outside rim of the bag. I also added two different colors of rick rack under the pocket flap.
This is a darling pattern but I made a few changes. I chose Soft and Stable for the outside stabilizer and Pellon's Decor Bond on the lining. I also added a zippered pocket and some embroidery from Hatched In Africa on the inside. I changed the position of the handles and used soft and stable to give them body and make them "stand up" on their own.
This is the cover for the Ellie Mae Maxi Bag pattern and the link to purchase it http://kwiksew.mccall.com/ellie-mae-pages-3369.php
